E3 2022 Digital is now Cancelled

The ESA has now cancelled digital events for E3 2022, which was due to place in June. It already was cancelled for physical venues this year. But now, there will be no official event.

Will Powers was one of the certified Twitter users to receive an email stating, “It’s official, e3 digital is official officially cancelled.”

Major media outlets such as IGN and The Verge have also reported on this. The ESA has giving IGN information to confirm as much. Hopefully, the show will return next year in some form. There is at least Summer Game Fest during the same month that E3 was supposed to take place in. More information can on that can be found HERE.

Just Like Last Year, The ESA Cancels In Person Attendance at E3 This Year

E3 Will Likely be an Online Only Convention Again in 2022

Caused by fears from the Omicron variant, the ESA has decided to cancel E3 for physical attendance again, just like last year, Venture Beat reports. While it was not confirmed E3 won’t happen at all, there is a good chance it will be online just like last year. More information will be released later.

Metroid Dread Wins Best Action-Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2021

Metroid Dread Wins Best Action-Adventure Game at The Game Awards 2021

This is likely the last article I will be publishing on The Game Awards 2021. I want to apologize for not covering Metroid Dread earlier. But here we are now.

Metroid Dread has won the Best Action-Adventure award at TGA this year. Mercury Steam Entertainment did a fantastic job developing this game and I hope to see more from the studio, assuming Nintendo continues patterning with the developer. Unfortunately, it did not win Game of the Year. It Takes Two won GOTY. Even though I do not have a lot of interest in playing the game, I want to at least congratulate the developers at Hazelight Studio.

You can watch the entire presentation HERE.

Nintendo is Investing Nearly $900 Million USD in Game Development

First reported by Nintendo Enthusiast, Nintendo is planning to invest more money into game development. They will be investing as much as $900 million USD / $1.12 billion CAD. That is just under $1 billion USD / 1.24B CAD!

Price conversions are estimated prices from XE and are rounded.

Nintendo said it is investing ¥100 billion JPY (or about $880 million USD / $1.1B CAD) into software development, while $440M US / CA$5.48M is going into non-gaming avenues. Additionally, The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack just came out at the end of October. A majority of Nintendo Switch users are upset about the service and price being set at $49.99 US / CA$63.99 for 12 months after adding Nintendo 64 and SEGA Genesis / MegaDrive games. Nintendo will try to remedy this by putting in ¥300 JPY (roughly $2.6 billion US / $CA32.37B) to in improve the Nintendo Switch Online experience, as well as Nintendo Accounts and My Nintendo.

Thanks @SuperMetalDave64 on Twitter for sharing this with fans! Also be sure to take a look at Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack HERE!
