Multiple different announcements were made today on the 30th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda. The first announcement was a reminder about The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is coming out to the Nintendo Switch in late July. The second one was about Nintendo releasing another GAME&WATCH system that features four games and a clock. The games are The Legend of Zelda, The Adventures of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and GAME & WATCH: Vermin. This releases November 12 for $49.99 USD. Nintendo also issued an update that new content is coming to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity for $19.99, and finally, the company released a brand new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel with no official title. It will release in 2022.
Many other games were shown along with new content for games already released. There is a brand new 2D Metroid game called Metroid Dread. Other games shown were a new character from Tekken in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Shin Megami Tensei V, Mario + Rabbids, Sparks of Hope, and Mario Party Superstars. There are even more titles that made an appearance such as WarioWare: Get It Together!, Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp, new content for Monster Hunter: Rise, Mario Golf: Super Rush, Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, and even Life is Strange: Remastered and Life is Strange: True Colors. Game Builder Garage is a brand new tool coming to Nintendo Switch that teaches users how to program. GBG will let gamers create their own games and allow others to play them. This is similar to Dreams on PlayStation 4 even if not as advanced. It is not clear yet if the game (if you want to even call it a game) only allows users program using a similar language to Blocky or if it also allows coding in other languages like C++ and Adobe.
Game Builder Garage is releasing on June 11, the same week as E3. Not much else is know about Game Builder Garage so stay tuned for further news. Also be sure to head over to Nintendo’s official website to learn more!
Today, I wanted to issue an update on the Sonic Adventure fan film. In honour of the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, there will be a total of three films. The first one was Sonic Riders Remastered, which released in the second half of 2019. Sonic Adventure is the second one and the the third one has yet to be announced.
For the Sonic Adventure fan film, the film will focus on three of the main three characters; They are Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. While the film will feature Amy, Big, and Gamma, to save time and to be sure the movie is not over two hours long on YouTube, the three characters will not be of main focus in the film. While playing as Tails, gameplay where Sonic is involved have been removed since it makes more sense to show them as Sonic since Tails is following behind. Tails’ gameplay where Sonic is not present will be left in the movie. Other minor things being cut are cutscenes that show in every Adventure arc, since only the dialogue is slightly different, this has been altered so that viewers will not have to watch the same cuctscene three times each. For Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles, no major story was cut.
Sonic Adventure was initially planned for a July release. However, the film is far into development and there is a really good chance that it will be released sooner. While I cannot give an exact date on the film’s release, know that everything is going well and that a trailer is being planned to be released this spring.
Additionally, I want to thank you all for the recent increase of support on my channel over the last month. The Pokémon Company held its first presentation of Pokémon Presents of the year which can be found HERE. The stream was around 20 minutes long. The company went over upcoming 2021 titles, as well as one game for 2022.
The stream started with a neat intro. The intro showed off all the Pokémon games from 1996 to 2010 and leading up to 2020 later in the stream. The intro also included the TV show and the Detective Pikachu movie.
Mobile Games Are Getting More Content
Games that have already been released were even shown off like Pokémon GO, Pokémon Magikarp Jump, and Pokémon Café Mix on iOS and Android. These game will be getting new content to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Pokémon.
NEW Pokémon Snap
Additionally, other games were shown. As a reminder, NEW Pokémon Snap is launching this spring. The company showed off some of the characters that were not in the Nintendo 64 tile, Pokémon Snap, as well as new features like a new photo mode which lets you edit your pictures taken throughout the game. NEW Pokémon Snap will released April 30 for Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Mysteries DX
Other games showcased were Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, and Pokémon Mysteries DX for Switch. Pokémon Sword & Shield will be getting new events added. As for Mysteries DX, this is also getting new content. All three of the games have been avaialble for some time now.
Pokémon Diamond & Pearl Remakes
This next part will probably get many Pokémon DS fans real excited. Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl originally launched on the Nintendo DS back in the 2000s. They will be getting remakes. The titles for the remakes will be called Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl. The games are being developed by ILCA Inc. and will launch later this year on Nintendo Switch.
Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Finally, Pokémon Legends: Arceus was announced. This was the last game announced in the presentation. The game may have an Xenoblade Chronicles vibe in the sense that the graphics, artwork, and open world look very similar. The game will let the player run around an open-world environment, sneak and crouch his or her way through grass and hide behind tress to stay hidden to sneak up and catch or battle with Pokémon. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is being developed by GameFreak and will launch in 2022 for the Switch.
If readers are interested or want a more detailed description of all the games shown today, you may do so by either watching the reaction video above or watching the original presentation HERE.
I know it isn’t 2021 yet but I decided for the 30th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog, I would be releasing three fan films of various 3D Sonic games. Sonic Riders is the first one with the second one to be announced early next year and the third announced to come later next year.
Sonic Riders is a remaster of the fan film I made some years back which can be found HERE if interested. The remaster was made from the ground up, played through again, re-recorded, and re-edited. I am not calling it a remake since I thought it would give the wrong impression that the game itself was a remake; therefore, I will be sticking to calling it a remaster.
So, I hope you enjoy the film I made. It’s about a hour and 10 minutes long. I am aware that Sonic Riders is not the best game in the series but for me, it was something easy to come up with. Let me know what you all think of the movie.
